A Message from Mayor Setti D. Warren and the Newton Civic Pride Committee

Newton is delighted to encourage youngsters to exercise and have fun by running up Heartbreak Hill as part of the 18th annual Newton Heartbreak Hill Youth Roadrace. We are so appreciative of all of the efforts of the Newton Civic Pride Committee in creating and sustaining this important community event for our youngsters and grateful to the staff and faculty of Lasell College for participating in the planning of this year's roadrace. Their ideas and energy will help make this event one of the best ever. And of course, to the generous business sponsors who, with their donations and advertising, enable this to be a premier event for youngsters, our deep appreciation for your interest in, and support of our community.

Setti Warren head

I invite you all to join in the fun, and walk Heartbreak Hill with me at 3:00 pm, as part of the Family Walk event. This Youth Roadrace is a great way to help keep the whole family moving and exercising together. See you there!

Sincerely,
Setti D. Warren

We want to offer special appreciation to Dr. Melissa Van Hyfte, Lasell College, Newton and her Advanced Special Event Management class for all of their help in planning this year's roadrace. Twenty-four Event Management majors were involved in all aspects of this year's planning including design of the logo, brochure and "t" shirt; public relations, fundraising, event entertainment, and corporate involvement. Class members reached out to the community, and arranged Special Olympics involvement. We are so grateful for all of their efforts on behalf of this event with special thanks to Dr. Van Hyfte for partnering with the City of Newton on behalf of young runners everywhere.
