2011 Beautification Awards
Beautification Awards are presented annually to Newton businesses and homeowners whose property reflects that an extra effort has been devoted to its beautification and maintenance. Awards are made in three categories: Residential, Business and Community.
Criteria for nominations include:
- A garden that creates an aesthetically pleasing effect demonstrating gardening skills and that contributes to neighborhood beauty
- A home, business or institution that takes advantage of unusual soil or land features and demonstrates improvement of the site.
- A community improvement project: the adoption of a rotary, public facility, traffic island, open space, village landmark, historical building, public or private school. Awards are made to an individual or group that demonstrates civic concern and improvement through a beautification effort.
Each nominated property is visited by a Beautification Award Committee member and 50 winners are selected. All winning garden photos are displayed in a collage at the awards ceremony.
The 2011 Beautification Award Ceremony will be held Monday September 19 at 6:30 pm at the Newton Cultural Center, 225 Nevada Street in Newtonville
